F.A.Q.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the parts made of?
The parts are made from a durable, impact-resistant polymer. This material offers excellent elasticity, abrasion resistance, weather and chemical resistance, shock absorption, and fatigue resistance. These properties make the parts safer and longer-lasting than traditional metal components while maintaining high performance.
How much do they weigh?
The polymer parts are significantly lighter than traditional metal components (0.44 lbs vs. 1.03 lbs) while preserving the balance and handling characteristics essential for exhibition drill. The exact weight of each part varies, but the overall reduction in rifle weight makes training safer and practice sessions easier while maintaining a competitive feel.
Can these be used in competitions?
These parts are designed for training purposes. While they replicate the feel of a performance rifle, the polymer material and design prioritize safety and durability over ceremonial or competition aesthetics. Always check with competition organizers for specific equipment requirements.
How do they differ from the original hardware?
Unlike traditional metal components, these parts are made from polymer, making them safer, more durable, and resistant to impact damage. They address common issues with metal parts, such as sharp edges, rigid designs, and susceptibility to bending or breaking. Additional design improvements include contoured sling swivels, reinforced attachment points, and built-in protection for high-impact areas like the stock and barrel. Because these parts eliminate the need for tape or other modifications, they allow the weapon to produce a clearer sound, enhancing the visual and auditory intensity of performances.
How durable are they?
These parts are highly durable and built to withstand the demands of exhibition drill training. The polymer material resists cracking, bending, and fatigue over time, making it ideal for repeated impacts and extended use. Unlike metal parts, these won’t rust, bend out of shape, or require post-purchase modifications like sanding or taping.
Who produces these parts?
Andres Ryan personally designed, fabricated, and post-processed all of these parts by hand. The long-term goal of this project is to streamline production and transition to a more efficient manufacturing process, making these parts more accessible to cadet programs everywhere.
Can I purchase individual parts?
To help fund the project’s launch, parts are currently sold as full kits. Once the project is fully funded by the community and inventory increases, individual parts will be available for purchase.
Can I place a custom order with different color combinations?
If you are ordering for a team and would like a custom set with mixed-color components, please contact us directly. We’ll work with you to create a personalized set for your team. If you are an individual looking to mix and match two or three colors, we encourage you to support the project by purchasing multiple kits. The sooner the project is funded, the sooner individual parts will be available for purchase.
Will these be available for sale at Nationals?
The only place to purchase Andres Ryan Training Equipment is through our official website at www.andresryan.com. If the community response is strong, we hope to become a vendor at the National High School Drill Team Championship & World Drill Championship in the future.
How limited is the inventory?
All parts are currently fabricated by Andres Ryan, and availability is limited to what he can produce. As the project grows, we aim to scale production to make this innovative equipment more widely accessible to drill teams and programs everywhere.
Do you offer team discounts?
Yes! We want to help more teams access safe, high-quality training equipment that extends practice time and reduces injury risks. We offer an eight-kit bundle with a $100 discount for teams looking to elevate their training.
Will these parts fit Glendale/Daisy 1903 Drill Rifles?
These parts are designed with next-generation drill equipment in mind. Most parts will fit any 1903 drill rifle, except for the butt shoe, which is specifically designed for the New Guard America high-impact 1903 stock. If you're unsure about compatibility with your rifle, please contact us with the make and model, and we’ll help determine if the parts will fit.
